So...my recommendation is to first, talk with Your physician and explain in detail your mobility issues and specifically how a power wheelchair would increase your independence and mobility. Next, contact a wheelchair supplier whom will basically write up what the doctor needs to say such that the doctor litteraly just has to sign the paperwork . Doctors don't know how to do the wording ...are particular words and phrases they must use. The wheelchair dealers know how to phrase things but it is often difficult getting the doctors to comply as every i must be dotted and t crossed. Start now...the process takes months and you will likely be denied several times no matter how severe your need. Can expect it to take a year or more. As it sounds like are just starting to need a power chair, you might find a good used chair or scooter for sale in meantime through your local ads. Just remember , batteries are generally nearly the cost of the chair itself when used...so make sure batteries function .
