So...part of me knows this is a ridiculous question, but I am hoping that maybe there have been changes I am unaware of. It is that dreaded time when I have to begin to apply for a new wheelchair.

It use to be I would look forward to the process. Use to be every new model of wheelchair would be better, drive further, be faster, overall better. That has not been the case however the last twenty years. The wheelchair I own twenty years ago was in every way better than the one ten years ago… read more

@A mySMAteam Member One tip...if you are able to get a seat elevation feature, keep in mind in most chairs that raises the seat height...even sometimes when the wheelchair provider swears it doesn't. I ran into the problem that the unit raised my seat by about an inch unless i tilted the seat recline all tge way forward. Naturally that inch makes a huge difference getting under standard hieght tables. Ironically, it is now easier to get under a pub hieght table...but have to always tell waiters and waitresses as they dont realize seat elevates.

My current chair is the Quantum Pride rear wheel drive. I actually found the Invacare to be an all around better chair...but they had a serious issue when I when it was time to order a wheelchair last go around. They were shut down due to chairs driving on their own after putting a new chip in their joysticks lol

A great question! I also need wheelchair recommendations. I have always bought OttoBock chairs, and I am quite satisfied with their quality (I currently use an OttoBock B400). I don't know if your government pays for this particular chair, but I can recommend OttoBock in general. BUT this time, I hope to buy a Meyra "ichair meylife" (when I have the money 🤡). Never had the money for a chair with seat elevation or tilt (our government doesn't pay much for chairs), I am so excitedly saving LOL.
