UCSF Health and mySMAteam Partnership: SMA Awareness Month 2022

Updated on September 1, 2022

The SMA community officially recognizes August as Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month. In August 2022, mySMAteam — with participation from UCSF Health — brought to life a series of patient stories, new information and resources, and interactive challenges for the mySMAteam and UCSF SMA communities.

UCSF Health and mySMAteam united their two communities with the hashtag #SMASpotlight. This hashtag embodies the importance of SMA Awareness Month to shine light on the incredible work being done by patient advocates, caregivers, and physicians to empower people living with SMA.

You’re invited to watch our video recap of live events and social media challenges, featuring mySMAteam influencers and UCSF Health experts. These events were designed to raise the collective voice of people with SMA, share their experiences, and showcase the important work happening within the SMA community.
