for swallowing I suggest(now this is what works for my son(SMA type I) 2x a day we do a tongue exercise. he sticks it out as far as he can, tries to touch his nose, then chin, then roll/fold it. We also do a whistle for helping to strengthen his lungs(that started with blowing whistles, feathers and bubbles when he was little). for jaw strength, that comes from biting/chewing. much like dog toys, something soft so it doesn't hurt, but tough so it can't be bitten through. and then just biting down on it slowly and hard over many many days. your'e trying to exercise the jaw muscles

Here are some practical strategies that may help:
• Cut food into smaller pieces
• Take breaks while eating to prevent fatigue
• Work with your healthcare team to find the right food textures
• Consider a combination of oral feeding and supportive methods if needed A registered dietitian can be an invaluable partner in developing an eating plan that works for you.
