Mac Users - What Assistive Technology Do You Use To Control Your Desktop?
A mySMAteam Member asked a question 💭

I recently bought my first desktop computer and I am so excited! I am currently using the magic trackpad, the built-in on screen keyboard, and voice control. Is there anything else I could be using to make things more efficient? I am on my computer pretty much all day, and I'm always looking for ways to be more productive while simultaneously reducing my fatigue.

Over 90% of the time I use the Free Virtual Keyboard. It works well 99% of the time. I like it more than the built-in Windows on-screen keyboard (which I employ 1% of time when the other doesn't work).

I believe it works with Macs.

I have been using Dragon Naturally Speaking for years, and the newest version is much better. I also could not recommend Hot Virtual Keyboard enough. This is an amazing app that lets you customize everything :-) think this might be what Dennis was referring to, but I could be wrong. Check it out!

I've also been looking for a good touchpad. I cannot find any I liked except for the Adesso, which I'm linking to because it's been the best keyboard. I've been using it for about 15 years, LOL that's why I keep believing there isn't anything better. I've bought a nice surplus because I'm afraid I won't be able to get them if I ever need more. I don't even use the keyboard, it's the touchpad that I love. The touchpad software granted by Glidepoint is spectacular, and the feel of the pad itself works great. I can only use one finger to navigate, and I'm not forced to use different multi-touch gestures. The one thing that is a game changer for me is on the top right of the touchpad, a single touch can be set as the right click! That's been the biggest advantage and why I've had so much trouble upgrading this touchpad. I would love to be able just to have this touchpad without a keyboard, but I've had no luck finding anything. Let me know if anyone is interested further in this keyboard. Also going to make a separate post looking for something more up-to-date.

I use Unified Remote. It turns my phone into a mouse and keyboard. I literally couldn’t live w/o out
